Multi-microphone periodicity function for robust F0 estimation in real noisy and reverberant environments

چکیده
This paper outlines a new method to extract F0 from distanttalking speech signals acquired by a microphone network, which exploits the redundancy across the signals proceeding from each microphone, by jointly processing the different contributes. To this purpose, a multi-microphone periodicity function is derived from the magnitude spectrum computed on each microphone signal. This function allows to estimate F0 reliably, even under reverberant conditions, without the need of any post-processing or smoothing technique. Experiments, conducted on real lectures, showed that the proposed frequency-domain algorithm is more suitable than other time-domain based ones.

Adaptive weighting of microphone arrays for distant-talking F0 and voiced/unvoiced estimation
This paper introduces a new technique of multi-microphone processing which aims to provide features for the extraction of fundamental frequency and for the classification of voiced/unvoiced segments in distant-talking speech. A multichannel periodicity function (MPF) is derived from an adaptive weighting of normalized and compressed magnitude spectra. This function highlights periodic clues of ...
متن کاملRobust Time-delay Estimation in Highly Adverse Acoustic Environments
This paper describes an algorithm for robust time-delay estimation (TDE) in situations where a large amount of additive noise and reverberation is present. In [1] an adaptive eigenvalue decomposition algorithm has been developed for TDE between two microphones in highly reverberant acoustic environments. In this paper we extend this algorithm to highly noisy and reverberant environments, by usi...

Two adaptive algorithms are presented for robust time delay estimation (TDE) in acoustic environments with a large amount of background noise and reverberation. Recently, an adaptive eigenvalue decomposition (EVD) algorithm has been developed for TDE in highly reverberant acoustic environments. In this paper, we extend the adaptive EVD algorithm to noisy and reverberant acoustic environments, b...

Abstract – Multipitch tracking in real environments is critical for speech signal processing. Determining pitch in reverberant and noisy speech is a particularly challenging task. In this paper, we propose a robust algorithm for multipitch tracking in the presence of both background noise and room reverberation. An auditory front-end and a new channel selection method are utilized to extract pe...
متن کاملRobust Method for Estimating F0 of Complex Tone Based on Pitch Perception of Amplitude Modulated Signal
Estimating the fundamental frequency (F0) of a target sound in noisy reverberant environments is a challenging issue in not only sound analysis/synthesis but also sound enhancement. This paper proposes a method for robustly and accurately estimating the F0 of a time-variant complex tone on the basis of an amplitude modulation/demodulation technique. It is based on the mechanism of the pitch per...
